David Oyedepo gave his life to Christ at the early age of 15, through the influence of his teacher, Betty Lasher, who took an interest in him during his high school days. He revealed that in May 1981, he got a mandate from God to liberate the world from all oppressions of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith.
In 1983, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, ordained David and his wife, Florence Abiola Oyedepo to become pastors and officially commissioned the new church. The vision led him to the founding of the Liberation Faith Hour Ministries, a movement that later metamorphosed into the present Living Faith Church World Wide (LFCWW).
