Erica joined KRQE as the new morning meteorologist fall of 2019 and is excited to call New Mexico her new home. She spent three decades at WBND in South Bend, Indiana, where she worked as a meteorologist. During her time there she tracked an EF2 tornado, live. She covered record river flooding, severe thunderstorm damage, and lake effect snowstorms and visited dozens of schools sharing her knowledge and passion for weather with students.
Before living in South Bend, she was a meteorologist and reporter at KNBN in Rapid City, SD, and in the year 2017 was the Keynote Speaker at the annual Rapid City Women in Science Conference.
She knew she wanted to be a meteorologist while in elementary school. She had a fascination with clouds, storms, and tornadoes. With this ongoing passion, she decided to enroll in her dreams and joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at university, she joined her classmates on a Field Studies of Convection trip for fourteen days across the Plains. This was her first time seeing a tornado, supercells, dust devils, and a dust storm.
While not at work, she likes getting out and about in our gorgeous state and traveling. Her favorite activities such as hiking, snowboarding, Jeeping, camping, and watersports. She also likes trying new restaurants, breweries, and wineries and going to concerts.
