She was also the recipient of the 2013 Fox News College Challenge, a nationwide contest awarding a scholarship and internship to the top college newscasters. After winning this award, Shannan appeared on Fox & Friends, as well as a television promotion about the contest which ran on the channel twice a day for several months. She graduated from St. Francis Preparatory High School in 2010.
